Washington University of St. Louis Statistical Data Analyst - Neurology - 51324 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Neurology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Performs data management and/or data analysis for investigators using statistical packages. Assists investigators in the design of experiments and epidemiological studies. Employee will engage in mentored research focusing on healthcare data, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty mentors to help define study questions, conduct hypothesis testing, and enable operational and health insights. Individuals will develop, execute, and report on complex evaluation projects involving analysis, interpretation, and reporting under the supervision of faculty mentors. In addition, such individuals will participate in the development of publications, presentations, and funding applications. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Curate, clean, combine, and process large amounts of data from multiple sources and manage the resulting databases for statistical analyses. 2. Analyze data from clinical epidemiology and administrative data sets using existing software applications. 3. Report results of statistical analyses in written, graphical, and verbal form. Assist with writing of scientific manuscripts and presentations. 4. Maintain compliance with appropriate data management and analysis best practices, including the maintenance of adequate documentation of all relevant tasks and activities, as well as the deposition and sharing of all data sources and types generated via research activities. 5. Collaborate with team members, attend lab meetings, etc. 6. Work with PIs to design, perform, and evaluate research procedures; confer with PIs to assist in developing plans for research projects and discuss the interpretation of results. 7. Perform other duties as assigned, including being lab safety trained and knowledgeable about lab duties. Required Qualifications * Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as, math, statistics, computer science or epidemiology). * Experience and proficiency with data analysis and data management utilizing statistical packages utilized by departments. Preferred Qualifications * Master’s degree in biostatistics or epidemiology. * Experience in the following areas: SAS, R, Excel, Access, SQL or similar programming language, STATA, geographic mapping. * Experience with geographic mapping software. * Analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills. * Ability to analyze results of large complex data sets and to interpret results. * Expertise in bioinformatics tools. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $47,986 - $61,194 annually.
