IBM Sourcing Consultant- Facilities/MRO in St Louis, Missouri
IBM is seeking highly motivated and experienced procurement professionals with 6-10+ years sourcing and procurement experience and a track record of increased scope and responsibilities
Qualified candidates will have 5 or more years’ experience strategic sourcing to include the procuring of goods and services in the category of Facilities Management, Facility Maintenance, Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) and/or Design and Construction.
The role is client facing and the selected candidate will join IBM’s Integrated Procurement Services consulting team.
The procurement professional will be an individual contributor capable of working in a matrixed organization; creating and successfully disseminating sourcing strategies tailored specifically for each engagement, identifying and sourcing goods and service providers in various regions for specific procurement projects, leading and developing requests for proposals using rigorous techniques and/or negotiation(s), overseeing and managing bidders during the procurement cycle, analyzing and scoring supplier responses utilizing objective techniques and criteria, documenting and presenting award recommendations to corporate management teams, and leading and finalizing contract negotiations on behalf of Clients.
The procurement professional shall perform these services for IBM’s clients in support of procurement activities resulting in contracts supporting the client’s real estate portfolio, Facilities Management Services, Facilities Support Services, Design Services, Construction Services, MRO Supplies, Real Estate Services, and Capital Equipment Purchases.
The procurement professional should also be capable of creating industry and category insights to assist in the development of the client’s overall Category Strategy.
This is a procurement role and the successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of the built environment with a demonstrated knowledge and comfort communicating the resources and requirements necessary to operate facilities.
This is a client facing role and requires significant travel (75% travel)
Your Role and Responsibilities
Sourcing Consultant responsibilities and preferred requirements include, but are not limited to:
Advanced experience in the purchase of goods and services required to operate and manage a diverse real estate / facilities portfolio; Posse’s a keen understanding of facilities business needs and how procurement can partner to increase speed to value and cost savings; Posse’s a depth and breadth of market knowledge specific to facilities to include thought leader capable of identifying areas of opportunity to drive cost/process improvement and/or increase category maturity.
Advanced experience and knowledge regarding the delivery and pricing models for facilities management, design, construction, facilities services, and facilities maintenance contracts; Experience working for or with top facilities management firms and integrators and how to spot value and risks in these contracts.
Experience in development of Requests for Proposals (RFP), bidding, and tendering of; integrated facilities management, furniture, design services, MRO Supplies, MRO Services, construction services, trade labor, facilities management services, building systems equipment, and/or other related goods and services. Experience in these areas during the Covid pandemic is highly desirable.

Ability to maintain professionalism in communications with all levels of client stakeholders. Experience being in a client facing role. Ability to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and with the level of attention to detail the client expects. Proven ability to make/show progress by proactively making decisions and taking action.
Client Relationship Management
Proven techniques and the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with Clients. Experience dealing with challenging stakeholders and clients to meet and exceed expectations.
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Experience driving on-time results on projects with moving targets and disperse stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
Ability to utilize data to sort through and analyze enterprise data in order to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and Client’s spend.
Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Understanding of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning and ability to apply organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Purchasing Tasks and Activities
Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously. Knowledge and ability to utilize project management skills to document and drive compliant processes within the procurement cycle.
Baseline Creation & Savings Analysis
Knowledge of various financial budgeting processes to include the ability to create a financial baseline and subsequent savings analysis in support of procurement projects; A knowledge of savings methodologies and how to calculate savings for each methodology.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Excellent client-facing skills.
Minimum (6) years of experience in procurement consulting or procurement business process outsourcing industry.
Expert knowledge of the 7-step sourcing process, category management, strategic sourcing, tactical buying, procurement operations, contract management, risk management & supplier relationship management.
Demonstrate proficiency in leading teams supporting complex scope of services for clients & have management experience.
Facilities, MRO, D&C, and/or Capital Equipment experience required.
Work is performed at client locations (domestic and/or international), during non-COVID environment high travel may be required (75%).
