SSM Health Senior Financial Analyst - Hospital Reimbursement in St. Louis, Missouri

Role Purpose:

Contributes to the overall financial performance of SSM Health, by following policies and procedures, and providing accurate and timely reporting. Ensures best practice by assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of hospital reimbursement policies and procedures.


  • Provides reimbursement expertise to System and Regional finance staff and management.

  • Enhances assigned functions by identifying and implementing process improvements to generate efficiencies and improve quality.

  • Contributes to the overall employee satisfaction of the department by actively participating in team meetings and offering assistance to others when needed.

  • Creates a positive and efficient environment for co-workers by serving as a department resource and problem solver.

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of the annual strategic and operational budgets related to net patient service revenue

  • Responsible for the detailed completion of the month end close process ensuring accurate and timely reporting and analysis related to patient accounts receivable valuation

  • Engages in effective communication and interaction with PBS staff, to assist in the accurate valuation of month end patient accounts receivable

  • Responsible for providing schedules and support to the internal and external auditors

  • Completes the accurate and timely reporting and analysis of special project requests

  • Responsible for the completion of annual surveys and disclosure packets

  • Provides reimbursement expertise to the SSM Behavioral Health Service line, including quarterly profitability reporting and regulation change impacts

  • Understands and can work efficiently in all systems utilized by the hospital reimbursement department

  • Mentors and provides expertise to the Financial Analyst, Hospital Reimbursement and serves as a resource and entity lead

  • Provides excellent customer service and support to System team members and Hospital leadership, by following standard policies and procedures

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, analyzes information skillfully

  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently

  • Serves as the primary liaison to the Finance Director, Hospital Reimbursement regarding financial issues related to hospital reimbursement.

  • Participates in the activities of the hospital reimbursement team to provide consistent and accurate financial reporting and information across all regions.

  • Participates in the implementation and maintenance of system-wide workflows and reporting to provide value added financial services related to hospital reimbursement.

  • Participates in the activities of the hospital reimbursement team so that key functions of the department are performed thoroughly and timely, with the appropriate level of review and analysis

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required

  • 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in financial analysis, and with hospital patient accounts receivable valuation and analysis. Experience in non-provider health care setting (insurance, consulting) can be considered in lieu of provider experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA is preferred
