St. Mary's Good Samaritan Senior Attorney in St. Louis, Missouri
Under the general supervision of the Senior Managing Attorney - Transactions, the Senior Attorney – Transactions is responsible for managing a high risk contract service line in the Transactions Practice Group of the System Legal Affairs Department and reviewing high risk legal documents. This position provides legal advice to SSM Health and its operating entities on regulatory, compliance and other related matters and participates in legal review functions related to all contracts.
Additionally, the Senior Attorney - Transactions is responsible for working on mergers and acquisitions to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations as well as providing legal support to SSM's Corporate Secretary on corporate governance legal issues.
The completion of a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (health law focus preferred) and a member in good standing of a state bar association.
Five or more years of experience in the area of health care regulation and/or law that should include a broad base of transactional experience across many specialties, including health care rules and regulations, physician contracts, real estate transactions, vendor and Group Purchasing Organization contracts as well as exposure to other areas of law such as employment and litigation.
In-depth knowledge of health care and provider operations, tax exempt organization requirements, health care regulation and compliance, Fraud and Abuse laws, the False Claims Act, and accreditation standards.
Understanding of legal risk as it applies to contract drafting and negotiation, contract review, corporate governance and mergers & acquisitions.
