Position Description:

Position Purpose :

The position serves as the focal point for all finance and accounting activities for the Legal Department, including all budgeting and forecasting. The position is responsible for a variety of report development and distribution, financial analysis, reconciliations, spreadsheet preparation and vendor management. This role will also assist the Director of Legal Operations & Associate General Counsel—Labor & Employment in developing and refining a department dashboard to track key data analytics and metrics, along with driving efficiencies, innovation and improving client experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process Legal Department invoices on a timely basis

  • Work with outside firms and vendors to reconcile invoices and resolve discrepancies

  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date

  • Maximize department’s use of LawTracker, including training department on key features

  • Develop and manage Legal Department budgets throughout the year.This requires leading the annual budget development process, month-end closing process as well as all forecasting activities

  • Consolidate actual, forecast and budget plan information, analyze changes and prepare variance analysis for reporting

  • In conjunction with the Director of Legal Operations & Associate General Counsel—Labor & Employment, critically review, analyze, challenge and identify cost issues & recommend improvements

  • Assist in evaluating and analyzing new technologies and solutions to help streamline Legal Department processes and reduce costs

  • Prepare presentations, exhibits and supplemental materials required by Legal Department utilizing information from Serengeti, department dashboard, company data bases and other sources

  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned

Education and Work Experiences:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business/Finance

  • 3- 5 or more years of accounting, auditing or finance experience

  • Experience with Serengeti/LawTracker preferred

  • Experience with financial systems-SAP​

  • A proven track record of problem solving and cost saving

  • Proven ability to gather data from multiple sources including internal systems and external sources when needed.

  • Reliability, confidentiality and accuracy

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing

  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment

  • Must be able to use a computer

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively

  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 pounds on an occasional basis
