Washington University of St. Louis Project Coordinator (Part-time/Time-limited) - Institute for Public Health - 52097 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is part-time and works approximately 20 - 30 hours per week. This is a time-limited position of up to one year. Hours worked are primarily during the day with the exception of a few special events that may require some evening commitment. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Center for Human Rights, Gender and Migration is a university-wide center that works with internal and external partners, both locally in St. Louis and internationally. This position will be responsible for assisting the Center Manager and Director with project and event coordination, student engagement, outreach and communications, and tasks necessary to achieve the mission of the Center and broader Institute. This position will centrally report to the Associate Director of the Institute for Public Health with functional reporting and regular interaction with the Director and Manager of the Center for Human Rights, Gender and Migration. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Program / project development and coordination: Support with coordination related to multiple research projects (eg, meeting preparation and follow-up, communications with partners, preparing presentation materials, travel logistics, research assistant onboarding and administrative support). Develop and implement new programs related to WashU student engagement (eg, development of the Center’s Student Advisory Council and programming for WashU students related to human rights, gender, and migration issues); support the coordination and engagement of affiliated faculty involved in Center-based projects. 2. Event planning: Develop, plan, and implement events with support of the Center Manager and the Institute for Public Health’s Event Coordinator (eg, webinar series, student events, policy and research workshops, etc.). 3. Communications and outreach: Assist the Center Manager and IPH Communications Manager with Center communications; develop news stories, blog posts, newsletters, and annual reports; contribute to the Center’s website content; develop a social media strategy and long-term plan for growing visibility on social media platforms; implement social media and other outreach / awareness-raising strategies related to the Center’s work. 4. Administrative support: Process hiring and administrative on-boarding of consultants, students, etc.; process invoices and liaise with vendors as needed; other core administrative functions as appropriate. 5. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certificate or Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant work experience, ideally in social work, public health, public policy, human rights, gender studies, or other appropriate discipline or equivalent education/experience. * Mastery of basic computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree and three years of related work experience. * Interest in or experience working on issues related to human rights, gender and migration. * Familiarity with Washington University administrative and other systems. * Familiarity with project management programs and tools (eg, Asana). * Experience designing and planning communications and social media content in platforms such as Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, etc. * Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Arabic, a plus. * Excellent writing and editing skills. * Project planning and coordination experience. * Experience with communications, marketing, and basic design (eg, via Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). * Community outreach and engagement experience. * Event planning or coordination experience. * Excellent organizational skills. * Experience managing administrative systems and processes. * Demonstrated strengths including exceptional attention to detail, clear communication, strong work ethic, good team player. * Ability to learn quickly and adapt. * Ability to interact in a professional manner with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $19.18 - $24.47 per hour. Once in-person working begins at the University, work will primarily be in the Hillman Hall IPH satellite office at Washington University’s Brown School, on the Danforth Campus. For the time being, this position requires suitable work-at-home accommodations. This position may require some travel between Washington University campuses and/or work done on the medical campus. Position takes place in a normal office environment, typically sitting at desk or table. Includes repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement and handling office equipment.
