Product Manager, Seed Modeling

Your Seat at the Table:

This role will be a critical part of The Climate Corporation’s Product team focus on digital ag seed products that deliver unique user value through seed selection, pairing, placement, and density recommendations. This role will be focused on the delivery of our underlying science capabilities that drive our business models and customer use cases.

What You Will Do:

  • Be the subject matter expert in Product that has complete understanding of the company’s seed science capability across various crops and geographies;

  • Define model requirements to deliver on business needs, partnering with Science areas to create stage-gate model development;

  • Support Science team on Data Collection strategy and protocol definitions for result maximization;

  • Evaluate and quantify model readiness;

  • Ensure science capabilities are utilized correctly to deliver quality products to the market

  • Ensure capabilities and data requirements are correctly built and delivered;

  • Partner with Engineering, DA, and other PMs to productionize capabilities while preserving the science that drives those capabilities;

  • Define/Collect metrics to measures of success for our science deployment and provide direction for future enhancements;

  • Partner with Data Governance to identify and communicate data standards, quality, and prioritization throughout model & product lifecycle

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in Data Science, Agronomy, Biology, or other science-related areas;

  • Understanding of the Ag supply chain, including key customer segments and Bayer Seeds & Traits product portfolio;

  • Excellent team- and relationship-building abilities, with both internal and external parties (engineers, data scientists, business partners, etc.);

  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and maintain a keen attention to detail;

  • Natural tendency to be positive, creative, and curious;

  • Team player who enjoys collaborating with others;

  • Genuine empathy toward customers and commitment to diving into the weeds on their challenges;

  • Proven ability to learn quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product management experience and/or training

  • Experience in and passion for agriculture

  • Experience, acumen, and interest in both STEM concepts and business principles

  • Strong technical aptitude - no coding experience required, but understanding of technology stack is critical to success

  • Self-starter with high level of agility to adapt to dynamic business needs

  • Autonomy to uncover challenges and build solutions without a great deal of direction; comfortable with ambiguity

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
