Job Description

Job Summary:

The Practice Area Attorney- Contracts serves as a legal advisor and business partner in a health care organization, providing legal advice and assistance on matters related to contracts, supply chain, services and internet technology.


  • Supports, promotes and implements legal initiatives

  • Advances the implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines supporting the supply chain, services and technology for health law practice area

  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts

  • Keeps current with legal developments affecting the supply chain, services and technology health law practice area and incorporates such information into advice, counsel and support for the organization

  • Supports the Practice Area Senior Attorney in the management of outside counsel

  • Collaborates with other attorneys in the organizations matrixed legal function

  • Collaborates with paralegals and other administrative staff on specific projects



  • Juris Doctorate is required

Work Experience:

  • Four years as a licensed practicing attorney required

  • Two years of experience in a law firm

  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation

  • Willingness to relocate to St. Louis

Preferred Work Experience:

  • In-house experience in a heath care organization

  • Experience in supply chain or services or technology contracting for health law

  • Extensive experience with drafting and revising contracts

  • Experience with pharmacy and medical device contracting

  • Experience working with a group purchasing organization (GPO)

  • Solid understanding of STARK, Anti-Kickback laws, Anti-trust and other issues related to healthcare contracting

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other internal legal counsel in identifying issues when analyzing complex legal transactions
