Cigna Pharmacy Operations Intern- Express Scripts in St. Louis, Missouri

Where You’ll Work

As an intern within the Express Scripts Pharmacy Operations, you’ll be responsible for owning projects assigned to you at the beginning of the program. During the 12-week summer internship, you will have the opportunity to collaborate within your department and across the business while learning from some of our brightest and most innovative employees in your area of focus.

Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks summer 2021.

What You’ll Do

  • You will learn how we process, dispense, and ship close to 1M prescriptions per week.

  • You will work on projects that are tied directly to our Pharmacy Growth Strategy.

  • Manage project plans from intake to completion phases for new initiatives: identifying project requirements and creating plans to meet target dates, assigning task ownership and delivery dates, and monitoring progress while anticipating and eliminating barriers.

  • Conduct research related to your assigned project(s)

  • Perform data analysis and reporting

  • Assist in preparing oral/written presentations

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to advance assigned project(s) and/or departmental goals

  • Gain valuable knowledge on pharmacy operations and best practices


  • Junior or senior-level college students with a 3.0 GPA

  • Preferred background/majors: Pharmacy, Business, Data & Analytics, Process Improvement, and/or Project Management.

  • Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think analytically

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong business aptitude and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel

  • Self-starter who is eager to learn and acquire new skills
