Cigna Managing Counsel - Global Health Benefits in St. Louis, Missouri
The candidate will support Cigna Global Health Benefits, the leading provider of expatriate and cross-border health solutions for multinational companies, government agencies, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, and globally mobile individuals. As a key member of the GHB extended leadership team, the candidate will:
collaborate with internal stakeholders on the design of compliant health strategies and solutions for our global clients and customers;
manage a team of compliance professionals;
participate in presentations to current and prospective clients;
draft and negotiate service agreements, data processing agreements, and network participation agreements, among others;
advise clinical and operations teams on coverage positions; and
interface with domestic and foreign regulators as needed.
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law
10+ years of legal experience in positions of increasing responsibility, with a minimum of 5 years in healthcare or a health-related field a must.
Unequivocal commitment to ethical business practices
Judgment to evaluate and mitigate legal and compliance risks
Comfort analyzing complex fact patterns involving overlapping and ambiguous legal regimes
Outstanding presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
Respect and appreciation for cultural differences
Ability to independently balance competing priorities
Familiarity with influencing stakeholders in a matrixed environment
International commercial contract drafting and negotiation

Employee Retirement Income Security Act
Health Information Portability and Accountability Act
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
Office of Foreign Assets Control
European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation
Knowledge of state insurance regulation is a plus.
Knowledge of tax and legal issues related to globally mobile populations is a plus.
