Execute all audit programs and corresponding procedures, including identifying and reviewing controls used to manage risk and executing test plans to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls.Job DescriptionKEY RESPONSIBILITIESVisibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values;Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management systemUnder the direction of Internal Audit management, support the assessment of internal controls over financial reporting as required under SOX (Sections 404 Reporting) by facilitating process/procedural documentation, performing walkthroughs, executing test plans and documenting audit resultsDirectly assist external auditors with substantive testing procedures for annual financial statement and benefit plan auditsExecute discretionary internal audit projects and other ad hoc requests from managementParticipate in recurring status meetings with Internal Audit management, as well as meetings with the business and/or external auditors, as applicableSupport other functions (e.g. Law, Finance, HR, etc.) with efforts to maintain corporate and SOX compliance and strengthen internal controlsEnsure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirementsOther duties as assigned by the companyEXPERIENCE and EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related fieldA minimum of one to three years of experience in auditing and/or accounting with SOX exposure; public accounting experience preferredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license, or ability to attain CPA license, preferredREQUIREMENTSPrimary understanding of audit methodologies and control frameworks, professional auditing standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize work assignmentsExcellent analytical rigor for financial and accounting dutiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, including contributing positively to team goalsAbility to foster positive relationships with key customer groupsAbility to identify and implement process improvementsCommitment to a high level of customer serviceStrong problem-solving skills and ability to implement creative solutionsAbility to travel domestically 10% of the yearAbility to work overtime, as neededProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Physical RequirementsPhysical Requirements - OfficeMust have the ability to sit for up to 8 hoursMust be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phoneMust have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documentsMust be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in personMust be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.EEO DisclaimerPeabody Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Nearest Major Market: St LouisJob Segment: Internal Audit, Audit, Accounting, Sustainability, Compliance, Finance, Energy, LegalEqual Opportunity Employerminorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
