SSM Health Data Analyst / Report Writer in St. Louis, Missouri

Role Purpose:

This person will be responsible for design, development, enhancement, updates, and maintenance of analytics and dashboard solutions to proactively support Risk Management, Patient Safety and Employee Safety activities, and other senior leaders of the company. The Data Analyst / Report Writer is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on healthcare data including Claims, Patient, and Provider information.

This position develops and maintains reports and dashboards as required.

Strong working experience in BI Tools is required such as Salesforce, Cognos, SAP Business Objects or other similar tools. Strong working experience in building reporting/analytics. Strong healthcare domain experience is preferred. Should have working knowledge of data conversion.

Provides key information critical to decision making, leveraging advanced analytical, development, and database skills to deliver value to key stakeholders. Provides timely and accurate routine end user support inclusive of issue identification and resolution.

The Data Analyst / Report Writer works with minimal supervision to ensure that changes to business functions, processes, financials, people and organizational structure are optimized with information and technology to support the business strategy and utilizes strong facilitation skills to elicit requirements from cross functional teams at all levels of the organization.

The analyst will review and verify data integrity within the database by running diagnostic reviews of the data to verify the data is homogenous and will report and review all suspected outliers. They will work collaboratively with the team to make sure that any system changes will not adversely impact reports or the database integrity. Conducts routine maintenance to the system to clean the database and the items with in it.

The person must be able to function with minimal supervision/direction, regularly operate under strict deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Duties include developing and documenting technical specifications based on business needs, creating the specified analytic and/or dashboard functionality, validation, and training to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of ad hoc reporting and dashboard functionality.

Works with decision makers and analysts to identify and document the business requirements behind ad hoc and dashboard reporting needs.

Creates and documents ad hoc reporting technical specifications based on the business requirements presented by the decision makers and analysts.

Develops ad hoc reporting tools and/or dashboards to support the needs of decision makers and analysts across the system.

Conducts routine maintenance of the data bases and runs diagnostics to maintain a clean data repository.

Researches, analyzes, and understands entity business flow in order to facilitate ad hoc tool development.

Maintains and distributes monthly reports including refreshing of standard reports as well as designing and providing ad hoc reports upon requests.

Deliverables are generated and distributed timely, reflecting detailed and accurate information

Provide documentation and training to new users on analytics reporting environment and tool options.

Develop a working relationship with analytics data users to build an understanding of data requirements.

Conduct elicitation sessions to gain an understanding of the business problem being addressed.

Analyze, specify, and create detailed requirements definition documentation which may include process flows, user interface mock-ups, reports and data models.

Works to maintain the integrity of the data bases and the data contained in them.

Conduct requirement verification and validation sessions.

Evaluate and present recommendations for process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required

Must have excellent business analysis skills and be able to interact with business staff to derive and interpret business needs

5 years of Report Development Data Mining, using Business intelligence platforms such as Salesforce, Cognos, SAP Business Objects or other similar tools including SQL.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5 years of experience working with customers to develop strategic solutions to complex business problems

3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with understanding of data in healthcare organizations.

Strong analytical skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to influence and foster collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet time sensitive deadlines and organize workload with general supervision.

Willingness to work individually and as part of a team to achieve business objectives.
