Ascension Health Compliance Director - Investigations & Incidents in St Louis, Missouri

Full Time, Days M-F

Location: Remote, very minimal travel

We are seeking a proven leader to direct compliance activities and resources within the Compliance Center of Excellence Acute Care Services; Investigations & Incidents vertical, with focus on compliance investigations and incidents. What You Will Do

  • Manages and supports compliance investigations across Ascension, partnering with Legal, Human Resources and other business units, as necessary

  • Works closely and collaboratively with appropriate Compliance team members on investigations and incidents

  • Provides advice and guidance on health care compliance matters with key focus on Stark, Anti-Kickback, excluded providers, beneficiary inducement and other fraud and abuse matters

  • Assists with preparing materials or engaging with federal and state regulators for compliance investigations and disclosures, as requested by and under oversight of Compliance Officer - Acute Care Services; Investigations & Incidents and in coordination with Legal

  • Manage and oversee certain auditing and monitoring activities as assigned to vertical

  • Supports development of guidelines and protocols to drive greater consistency and standardization of processes and applications across the organization related to investigations, Values Line incidents, excluded providers and other areas of responsibility

  • Identifies training opportunities and assists with needed compliance education and training based on key risk areas trending through compliance investigations and Values Line calls

  • Has direct managerial responsibility for Compliance Specialist(s) - Investigations & Incidents

  • Handles other compliance matters related to investigations and incidents and other vertical initiatives as directed by the Compliance Officer - Acute Care Services; Investigations & Incidents

What You Will Need

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience required.

  • 10 years of experience preferred.

  • 2 years of leadership or management experience required.

  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

Education:

  • JD strongly preferred

    Work Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in health law or health care compliance, with 3+ years of experience directly managing internal or government investigations, CMS/OIG self-disclosures and voluntary refunds preferred.

  • Specific experience/knowledge of Stark, Anti-Kickback, Civil Monetary Penalties laws, excluded providers, beneficiary inducement, and Medicare billing/payment rules preferred.

  • Other helpful skills include strong ability to engage/interact with business leaders, writing and analysis skills, and autonomous/self-starter.
