The Billing Specialist is responsible for the member billing and collection efforts for the Company’s multiple clients. In performing your duties, you will work closely with our customer service, enrollment, and technology departments to provide timely and high-quality service to our clients. In addition, you will work closely with your peers in accounting and finance to provide necessary information for month-end close and analysis.
Role and Responsibilities
Member Billing: Handle the monthly billing process from start to finish, including printing and mailing of monthly premium invoices to members, monitoring outstanding member balances, issuing refunds to members, and monitoring the use of different payment options by members.
Customer Service: Serve as a resource for the Customer Service department in responding to member’s premium billing questions.
Compliance: Ensure the Company is in compliance with Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rules and regulations as they relate to each of the items above.
Audit: Assist in compiling information for CMS, Department of Insurance (DOI), and external audits.
Reports: Prepare reports for management regarding the Company’s collections and write-off efforts.
Experience, Qualifications, and Education
Associates degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
At least 2-4 years of billing and collections experience (preferably in the healthcare, insurance or software technology industry)
PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, strong Excel skills and ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
Third Party Administrator experience a huge plus
Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues
Self-motivated with ability to drive tasks to completion
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Facets experience a plus
Required to pass a credit check
