Washington University of St. Louis Administrative Assistant (Part-time) - The Learning Center - 51210 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is part-time and works approximately 15 -19 hours per week. This is a 9 month position with optional work hours over the summer. Department Name/Job Location This position is in The Learning Center. This position is for the Danforth Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Learning Center’s Administrative Assistant provides reception and administrative support to ensure smooth operations of the Learning Center’s programs. The Administrative Assistant also provides support for planning events and assists the staff as needed. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Greet students, families, and campus partners with a professional and welcoming demeanor. 2. Answer office emails and phone calls. Distribute and track inquiries from students, student employees, families, campus partners, etc. 3. Assist with hiring of student employees, process bi-weekly payroll, organize and issue paychecks to student employees. 4. Assist with planning events that include room reservations, catering, set up and break down, processing receipts, etc. 5. Manage classroom and office supplies. 6. Ensure that common spaces, equipment and storage areas are clean, organized, and well-equipped for effective functioning. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certificaiton.. * One year of experience in coordinating administrative work. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree * Demonstrated ability to organize and execute multiple projects with rigid deadlines. * Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. * Professionalism, initiative, self-direction, openness to change, flexibility, sound judgement, attention to detail, tolerance for ambiguity, and sense of humor. * Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize tasks, function independently, and work as part of a team. * Ability to manage frequent interruptions and high levels of activity in the surrounds. * Tact and diplomacy. * Ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse and broad range of stakeholders. * Willingness to learn new software applications, such as project management and record management systems. * Interest in college student development and community engagement. * Ability to work periodic morning, evening, or weekend hours for special events and meetings. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $16.31 - $20.39 per hour.
