NETSMART Cash Application Specialist in Springfield, Missouri
CASH APPLICATION SPECIALIST will post all incoming payments to correct patient accounts, reconciling accounts, and balancing daily payments, deposits, adjustments, and refunds. Individual will research, validate and process requested adjustments to payments applied. * Posts all payments and adjustments daily. * Contact carriers, adjustors and/or collectors via email, phone or fax to obtain all required information in order to apply all receipts in full * Contacts payer and initiates request for payment. * Initiates refunds of identified overpayments. * Performs appropriate follow-up with payer for payment. * Performs weekly allocation and reconciliation of deposits. * Maintains a credit balance of 1.0 days. * Develop and update policies and reports as assigned by management. * Provide continued on the job training and monitoring to ensure that Cash Application and Accounts Receivable policies and procedures are followed. * Proactively prioritizes needs and effectively manages resources and time * Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or develops appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. * Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. EDUCATION: * High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required * Associates degree preferred; bachelors degree a plus EXPERIENCE: * Knowledge of claims processing/posting preferred * Experience with Medicare and Medicaid s State Eligibility Systems various states preferred * 6 months collections experience in a healthcare setting preferred * Working knowledge of medical billing systems i.e. Medic, IDX, Avatar, Tier, Medical Manager, etc. preferred * 1+ Years or Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Creating spreadsheets, formatting, pivot tables * Demonstrated ability to work efficiently between various computer systems internet, Microsoft programs, billing systems and have advanced keyboarding skills * Ability to operate 10-key * Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate clearly with customers and insurance companies * Ability to read and understand Explanation of Benefits EOB s * Problem solver and able to troubleshoot independently with little supervision. * Excellent customer service skills * Excellent communication skills written and verbal * Must be detail oriented * Team player * Capable of meeting daily deadlines * Self-sufficient in a high volume atmosphere Netsmart provides equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals.
