SSM Health System Director, Executive Communications in Saint Louis, Missouri

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the thought leadership, reputation management and executive visibility strategies for SSM Health in alignment with system operational priorities and integrated with marketing and communications activities at a system and regional level – including speeches, presentations, talking points, position papers, memos, videos, media, social media and speaking opportunities at national/industry conferences and events. Finds creative and compelling approaches to tell the story of SSM Health’s Mission and transformative vision in ways that engage multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Works closely with the President/CEO, CMO and other members of the senior leadership team to establish core message platforms and manage communications needs.

  • Supports communications with the SSM Health Board of Directors, including presentations, memos, Board manual, Board orientation, and event planning for Board meetings and retreats.

  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop and deploy leadership forums, meetings and other channels that serve to inform, inspire and engage leaders and team members across the system.

  • Supports crisis communication efforts in coordination with system marketing and communications team.

  • Researches, builds and maintains relationships with key national/industry media outlets and members of the press as an advocate for SSM Health’s national, regional and entity agendas. Partners with government affairs team to further elevate and enhance SSM Health’s reputation and brand by advancing our advocacy agenda and communicating these efforts internally and externally.

  • Provides consultation and training to executives with regards to media relations, social media, presentations and public relations.

  • Tracks industry trends, scanning local, national and trade media publications and social media to identify opportunities to further SSM Health’s thought leadership agenda in alignment with the health system’s strategic objectives and brand.

  • Tracks media and executive communications trends, ensuring best practices are adopted and implemented when appropriate. Tracks the success of all communications activities and works from metrics to continually improve results.

  • Manages within budgetary boundaries.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Ten years’ experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
