Thermo Fisher Scientific Sr. Financial Analyst, FP&A (Biologics) in Saint Louis, Missouri


The Sr. Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting & Analysis is a critical member of the Biologics finance team and will closely collaborate with the Biologics Senior Manager, FP&A in providing innovate solutions to accomplish multiple finance related tasks. This role provides financial decision support on a wide scope of operational and strategic matters impacting the achievement of the Business's objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the annual budget process as well as periodic forecast updates for the Biologics business unit

  • Support the reporting and analysis activities within the Biologics finance team

  • Act as a subject matter expert for the financial systems

  • Distribute weekly reports to the BU Leadership team

  • Prepare cost center reporting and analysis on a monthly basis

  • Analyze historical and forecast data to perform trend analysis

  • Stay abreast of the economic and business trends in the industry

  • Provides relevant data, analysis and fact-based recommendations

  • Coordinate BU Capital Expenditures reporting and budgeting process

  • Identify and document improvement opportunities, creating guidelines and directives; identify potential improvement based on best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges

  • Support the monthly reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes as needed

  • Provide support for special projects/analysis within the Biologics finance team

Experience and Skills:


  • Outstanding financial analysis skills

  • Strong business acumen and judgement

  • Business analysis, financial planning and reporting skills that generate business insights that add measurable value

  • Current knowledge of trends in finance and functional best-practices

  • Ability to manage by influence

  • Excellent interpersonal , communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and capable of gaining commitment and coordinate action for initiatives

  • Ability to have effective working relationships across the company

  • Travel requirements: 10-15%


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred

  • More than 2 years in controlling/business finance positions preferred

  • SAP experience is a plus

  • Hyperion experience is a plus

  • Relevant experience in manufacturing preferred

  • Advanced desktop application experience Microsoft Power point, Excel and Word
