Description ROLE PURPOSE: Under the general supervision of the Regional General Counsel, Missouri and Illinois the Paralegal performs substantive and procedural legal work as authorized by law, adheres to recognized ethical standards and rules of professional responsibility, provides paralegal and administrative support to attorneys and enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the Missouri and Illinois Group and Labor and Employment Practice Group. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Opens, closes, and updates legal matters in the legal matter management database. * Provides administrative and in-house legal support for litigation and government agency matters, including coordinating legal holds and gathering, organizing and coordinating documents for production. * Works collaboratively with attorneys to draft motions, prepare and e-file petitions for guardianship, and run people search. * Works collaboratively with attorneys to review and respond to subpoenas for the entities in the Missouri and Illinois region including drafting objection letters, coordinating the collection of responsive documents, and communicating with opposing counsel. * Works collaboratively with attorneys to draft correspondence to opposing counsel and communicate with attorneys at governmental agencies. * Performs basic legal search on relevant case law, statutes and regulations related to health care operations to identify issues, determine supporting/contrasting legal authority and assist attorneys in arriving at legal conclusions and recommendations. * Works collaboratively with attorneys to review and respond to class action notices and obtain necessary documentation to file class action claim forms for the entities in the Missouri and Illinois region. * Calendars relevant deadlines for motions, charge responses, hearings, depositions, etc. * Reconciles corporate credit cards, arrange flight and accommodations for business travel, answer calls, schedule meetings and witness interviews, secure conference rooms, copy and file for attorneys in the Missouri and Illinois operations group and Labor and Employment Practice Group. * Performs other paralegal and administrative support duties as requested by attorneys.Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor s degree required and/or a paralegal certificate and six or more years of comparable experience. * Ability to generate reports, charts, tables, correspondence and other materials with speed and accuracy. * Organizational ability to plan work, prioritize assignments, and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced tech-savvy work environment. * Highly developed interpersonal and communicative skills to interact tactfully and effectively with others both internal and external on sensitive and complex topics PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Basic knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act preferred. * Litigation experience in either a law firm or corporate law department preferred. * Experience with Thomas Reuters Legal Tracker a plus ABOUT Company - SYSTEM OFFICE: Company is one of the largest Catholic health systems in the country and is dedicated to quality and compassionate care for anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
