Overview

At MasterCard, we are committed to protecting our network from being used to facilitate money laundering or terrorist financing, and to ensure that Sanctions and Export Controls requirements are met. The Global AML, Sanctions and Export Compliance teams have implemented robust compliance programs that are designed to meet regulatory obligations and ensure that internal and external constituents have robust programs in place to meet Mastercard and/or regulatory requirements.

The Global Compliance team has responsibility for testing of critical functions to ensure that processes and procedures are done accurately, timely, and in accordance with Mastercard Policies, Standards and Regulatory requirements. By way of example, Quality Assurance testing covers such functions as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Economic Sanctions and Export Controls, and includes, but is not limited to, tests on alert generation and disposition, customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence and sanctions screening. Quality Assurance testing spans the Mastercard enterprise, including core teams, business units, subsidiaries, acquired entities, and vendors that provide applicable services.

The GBSC (Global Business Services Center) is the shared services organization for MasterCard. Consistent with the One LFI model, GBSC is partnering with the Law and Franchise Integrity team to build a legal and compliance shared services function. The GBSC team will support the Global AML, Sanctions and Export Compliance teams in meeting our compliance function obligations.

Reporting to the Director, GBSC Compliance Services, the Senior Analyst role will be a part of the GBSC and support the Global Compliance team conducting AML and Sanctions-related activities as part of the customer onboarding and monitoring processes. Working under general supervision this role will leverage analytical reasoning skills to draw conclusions, and resolve moderately complex research, root cause analysis, assessment of risk factors or other assigned compliance activities.

Role

Support and perform customer identification and verification procedures for new customers and participate in the ongoing review of existing customers to ensure adherence to AML and Trade Sanctions requirements.

Perform AML suspicious activity monitoring analysis on transactions based on a set of AML and terrorist financing typologies and rules that generate reporting of card activity that meets or exceeds defined thresholds.

Maintain current tracking of all alerts generated and analysis documentation within a case management system or tracker

Analyze customer relationships, documentation, activity patterns, and transactions to detect potential red flags and/or suspicious activity

Processing KYC/sanctions reviews to meet relevant Service Level Agreement including follow-up analysis and reconciliation

Review and analysis of due diligence reports for higher risk client types to determine appropriate risk rating

Perform periodic customer due diligence (CDD) reviews to reevaluate the risk and determine if activity or customer behavior is aligned with expectations.

Documenting the review and investigation processes followed for each customer and/or alert reviewed and preparing various documents, reports and system entries as necessary for certification, reporting and statistical purposes.

Ensure proper recordkeeping is maintained for all processes

Adhere to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

Support the team with tracking of company-wide AML reviews during the onboarding of customers and creation/modification of MasterCard products and services. Conduct appropriate analyses to calculate and provide monthly, quarterly and annual metrics and reporting.

All about you

Bachelor€™s degree required/or the equivalent experience in operations, risk management, law enforcement, and/or compliance experience.

Compliance and/or risk management experience in the financial services industry preferred; AML knowledge is required.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Practical problem solver with demonstrated ability to partner effectively with others in handling issues.

Motivated self-starter with an appetite to learn and grow in a regulatory compliance function.

Ability to follow and execute procedures with limited supervision, to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, to handle multiple tasks, and consistently meet established deadlines.

Knowledge of banking/financial operations, transaction processing and/or payments-related industry experience is preferred.

Strong understanding of AML, BSA, USA PATRIOT Act and OFAC controls and requirements.

Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.

Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.

Well skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

ACAMS Certification preferred.
