General Responsibilities:

The HR Generalist will provide professional HR guidance and support with the objective to add value to the business. The HR Generalist will administer HR programs in some or all the following functional areas: Recruiting and staffing for both salaried and hourly positions, HR support to Lowe associates at all levels in the organization, employee relations support to plant supervision, administration of HR policies and practices, primary role in effectively managing HRIS systems maintenance from applicant tracking through employee onboarding and ongoing HRIS administration, the staffing life cycle as a specific functional activity, and using HR metrics to measure HR effectiveness and identify continuous improvement initiatives. This position shares responsibilities with one other generalist in a strong team/partner relationship under the direction of the Sr. HR Manager.

Primary Objectives of the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Utilizes Workday HRIS, on a daily basis, for the administration of applicant tracking, hiring, onboarding, open enrollment, and all employee information systems maintenance. Mastery of Workday is a strong requirement. Expansion and increased utilization of Workday functionality is critical to the ongoing success of the HR department.

  • Administer policies, makes fact-based policy decisions and respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.

  • Conduct investigations of all types and present recommendations for resolution to the Sr. HR Manager and business partners across the company.

  • Daily focus on positive employee relations strategies including attraction, development and retention of employees.

  • Lead special projects as assigned to support business growth and initiatives.

  • Partner directly and effectively with other members of the HR team to help drive HR initiatives for the business in a timely and professional manner.

  • Daily rounding - resolving employee requests in a timely manner. In addition, focus on 90 day and under new hires checking in frequently.

  • Develop metrics-based initiatives to drive employee retention, develop targeted strategic hiring processes to minimize turnover, improve employee engagement, and measure training effectiveness and competencies-based advancement processes.

  • Develop and execute recruiting plans; partnering with key stakeholders as a subject matter expert assessing internal and external talent for all hourly positions.

  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employees.

  • Focus on continuous improvement of the entire recruitment cycle.

  • Coordinate and implement college/high school recruiting initiatives.

  • Compiles data and manages annual Affirmative Action Program ensuring goals and progress to goals

  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends to ensure compliance with all internal, state and federal laws.

  • Make recommendations as to market shifts and internal equity issues to ensure appropriate salary offerings to hourly associates.

  • Administrative duties and recordkeeping.

  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.

  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.

  • Attend local professional meetings and membership development meetings.

  • Attend career fairs for recruiting and company recognition.

  • Develop working relationships within high schools and colleges to aid in recruiting.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree with relevant experience

3-5 years of HR Generalist experience in a Manufacturing Environment

Work Environment and Physical requirements:

This position is predominantly an office environment in climate-controlled conditions. However, there are frequent trips into the plant, on a regular basis, which involves temperature extremes of very hot and humid conditions in our hot Missouri summers, as well as sometimes very cold conditions in the winter. The ability to ambulate through harsh industrial conditions which includes climbing stairs, ladders, step ladders, negotiating travel through and around industrial equipment including the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull are all physical requirements necessary to effectively engage workers in their environment and investigate employee concerns or issues. Normal vision and hearing, with or without aids, is a requirement.
