Goodwill of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas Public Relations Specialist Intern in Kansas City, Missouri
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Public Relations Specialist Intern is responsible for implementing public relations efforts and providing administrative support to the department along with attending and aiding in community events.

Assist in developing, managing and optimizing an online community engagement strategy through use of social media, email campaigns, blogs, and various websites.
Create and curate content on social media pages growing audience share, impressions and engagement.
Create and curate content for press releases focused on Mission stories, workforce development programs, sustainability, and retail promotions.
Prospect and cultivate relationships with writers, producers and other influencers to generate consumer and media attention for Goodwill’s mission, retail promotions and other community engagement activities.
Monitor and respond to reviews and comments on social media and review sites. Facilitate problem-resolution with assistance from the Director when needed.
Track media placements and provide reports against KPIs to determine ROI. Make recommendations for improvements.
Use agency project management tools to track and manage projects timelines and budgets while ensuring the quality of each task and project outcome.
Support the Marketing and Communications team by coordinating and assisting with community events, media appearances, sponsorship execution, retail promotions and customer loyalty programs.
Assist in writing and proofreading various forms of video, digital, and print content.
All other duties assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
This job operates both virtually and in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This is a sedentary role, some filing is required. The associate must have the ability to communicate verbally and apply active listening skills, lift to 25 pounds, and bend and stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel
This is a part-time position with hours to be mutually agreed upon from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however some flexibility of the schedule is permissible with supervisor approval. Night-time, weekend work and occasional day-time travel may be requested. Driver’s license, good driving record, liability insurance, and vehicle in good working condition to travel on work related business is required.
The Public Relations Specialist Intern will be a young leader with the following:
Experience using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram and knowledge of emerging platforms.
Strong editing and written communications skills.
Efficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Communicates professionally and effectively in writing or in person with other team members and members of the public or press at all times, demonstrating positive customer service and an upbeat team-oriented attitude.
Is organized, meets deadlines and has great time-management and follow up skills.
Available to either high school (16+) or college students
