DineEquity Manager, Accounts Payable in Kansas City, Missouri

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of Accounts Payable team, including interviewing and hiring, providing employee feedback, handling conflict, conducting performance reviews and long-range career planning

  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures to ensure adherence to company guidelines

  • Implements new processes and procedures to support new company initiatives, new accounting pronouncements or company policy changes

  • Researches and provides technical accounting solutions for new and existing business issues of a moderate to difficult complexity

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining financial software applications

  • Subject matter expert related to PeopleSoft AP module, T&E software, Imaging software

  • Ensures adequate controls exist over the function

  • Reviews applicable accounting reports and accounts payable registers to ensure accuracy

  • Develops management reporting

  • Responsible for contract negotiations related to the function

  • Manages vendor relationships

  • Collaborates with all departments throughout the organization

  • Provides guidance and training, to all employee levels, on Accounts Payable related matters

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Reviews transactions performed by the team and acts as subject matter expert for questions and escalations

  • Leads all internal and external audit activity related to the function

  • Proactive approach to understanding long term impact of business changes

  • Provides coaching and mentorship to team members

  • Leads special projects

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum 7 years of managerial experience in accounts payable

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts and principles, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as well as basic internal controls

  • Advanced knowledge of Accounts Payable systems, preferably PeopleSoft, T&E software, and Imaging software

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to achieve results through others

  • Strong communication, planning, organizational, and prioritizing skills

  • Project management skills
