Children''s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics Financial Reporting Analyst in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Description:

The Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the timely preparation and distribution of Children Mercy's Hospital and consolidated financial statements and other financial reporting deliverables. The Analyst will be responsible for monthly eliminations of inter-company transactions, preparing consolidating statements, reviewing transactions and developing related statements of cash flows and net asset changes. The analyst serves as a technical accounting resource responsible for researching and documenting the accounting approach for new transactions, complex transactions and/or application of new accounting standards. The analyst assists the finance business analyst in providing functional support for current systems and interfaces, including ERP systems, Revenue Cycle integrations, and other ancillary financial systems. The analyst performs complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis to report results and interprets trends, budget variances, and financial forecasts. The analyst assists in process improvement and/or system upgrades to further streamline accounting and business processes. The analyst participates in special projects as requested, which could include coverage for general accounting services as needed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5-7 years’ experience

  • 3-5 years in public accounting preferred

  • CPA preferred

  • Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis required.

  • Experience in performing technical accounting research and analysis, and documentation of alternatives and conclusions preferred.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP concepts and the ability to communicate those concepts to other stakeholders in the Company.

  • Motivated and independent individual with excellent customer service, interpersonal, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to focus on details, as necessary

  • Positive attitude with the willingness to accept flexibility in assignments and the desire to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to excel.

  • Ability to proactively manage deadlines and acute attention to detail.

  • Software Application Skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Proficient with PC and Windows-based Software packages

  • Knowledge of the following preferred but not required:

  • Crowe Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA) tool

  • Lawson/Infor General Ledger

  • Strata
