The Donor Engagement Specialist will play a key role in engaging and recognizing the many Y donors who provide support to the mission and vision of the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, your great planning of stewardship programs, donor recognition events, workplace campaigns, and volunteer development will allow the Y to serve even more people in need.

Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
Works collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer, development team, marketing team and campaign leaders to develop and implement appropriate cultivation and stewardship strategies.
Strategically and creatively builds high-level relationship-centered strategies to engage donors, members, staff and volunteers.
Provide oversight and leadership to annual campaign fundraising, volunteer development and special events.
Creates innovative programs and projects to thank and steward donors.
Acquires and maintains a sound knowledge and understanding of the Y’s cause and mission, and uses that knowledge and understanding to articulate the programs and projects for which contributions will be sought.
Organize and manage workplace campaigns to educate and encourage participation.
Offers support and training to users of the fundraising software to ensure understanding of the system, campaign structure and proper procedures for posting gifts and looking up constituents and reports.
Communicate with external and internal stakeholders regarding donor inquiries, donor problem resolution and general information requests.
Compile and analyze information about new and existing contributors to develop/maintain contact list and campaign plans.
Assists in pledge processing functions including but not limited to printing personalized pledge cards, supporting electronic pledging, preparing campaign envelopes for data entry, and maintaining envelope audit trail from shipping to closure.
Assist in processing thank you letters, tax receipts, monthly billing, and association acknowledgment and designation reports.
Assist in preparing downloads for mailings, donor communications, grants, required reporting and data analysis for other departments.
Manage and maintain donor information and communications in a confidential and professional manner.
Support the planning and execution of special fundraising events at various locations as specified in the fund development plan and meeting the specific outline of events to generate funds for the organization.
Support Association Resource Center major philanthropy events and trainings helping with event coordination and communications, scripts, volunteer support and presentations.
Act as a liaison to campaign leaders to assist in developing individualized stewardship plans.
Develops, implements, and leads a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving as defined by the development team.
Maintain a successful donor cultivation process proficiently tracking gifts, relationships, stewardship activities and move management in donor database.
Participate in community and outreach activities related to donor cultivation.
Coordinate with development and marketing teams in the implementation of a donor communications plan including written communication, donor publications, campaign materials and media outreach strategies.
Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Three years’ experience in a related field.
Demonstrated successful experience in data management and strong numerical aptitude.
Demonstrated experience in preparing reports and presenting data in an understandable format.
Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
Experience using Raisers Edge/NXT preferred.
Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work with limited supervision and exercise good judgment.
Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to include: telephone, verbal, written, presentation, facilitation and negotiation.
General knowledge of marketing and fund development techniques.
Flexible, adaptable and open to change.
Ability to assign, direct and coordinate special event activities and monitor progress on delegated work assignments
Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.
