Children''s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics Disaster Recovery Analyst in Kansas City, Missouri

The Disaster Recovery Analyst assists to drive visibility on the planning and implementation of disaster recovery capabilities and processes throughout the organization. This role requires working with the application development and operational teams and other stakeholders to create operational and test plans, manage/coordinate the Disaster Recovery (DR) operational activities, and work closely with the Business Continuity (BC) team to mitigate effects on the organization to conduct business in the event of a disaster.

The Disaster Recovery Analyst reports to the BC/DR Manager and will be responsible for the following activities and functions:

• Work with Business Continuity Planning team to understand Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for critical business functions and related technology

• Partner with Information Systems (IS) Technology and Application teams to develop a DR Plan and related runbooks

• Work with IS departments and vendors to determine recoverability options meeting business requirements

• Maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan which includes:

o Coordinate with the application and operational teams on the creation and maintenance of DR plans

o Review all existing plans to ensure they are complete, current, and all process steps are validated with the correct technical resources

o Evaluate current processes and procedures for inefficiencies and make improvement recommendations

o Testing of methodologies and plans

• Coordinate with the IS applications and technical staff to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, and maintained

• Define critical and time-sensitive functions and work to increase the firm's capabilities to perform these functions from multiple sites

• Work to identify, test, and implement new technology or practices that would increase the efficiency of IS to recover systems in the event of a disaster

• Recommend recovery strategies and options and assist with the implementation of recovery solutions

• Regularly report Disaster Recovery activities to management

• Maintain current knowledge of industry practices as well as key vendors

• Facilitate meetings, involving individual contributors, as well as Leadership without support and instruction from others

• Build trust and commitment in order to achieve results

• Identify the applications and recoverable units

• Perform identification and recommendation of innovative actions to close the gaps (gap analysis report) to comply with company standards and policies

• Work with project managers to assure that all disaster recovery standards and appropriate availability architecture have been addressed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

  • 5+ years of experience, knowledge, skill, and ability to establish and maintain a company-wide disaster recovery program and serve as the subject matter expert

  • Knowledge of IS infrastructure operations and familiarity with disaster recovery operations

  • Should be self-directed and able to work independently

  • Ability to collaborate with other IS staff at all levels of responsibility

  • Ability to communicate technology into business terms with customers at all levels

  • Strong verbal/written communications

  • ServiceNow experience a plus

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) preferred

  • Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist (DRCS) preferred

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred
