UMB Bank Dir Compliance & Oversight CB in Kansas City, Missouri

What You'll Do:

This position provides support for the UMB Consumer Banking LOB and Private Banking. The position is responsible for the creation, maintenance and implementation of all regulatory and internal policies and procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Additionally, the position is responsible for the creation, implementation and ongoing oversight of the First Line of Defense Program for the Consumer Bank and Private Banking. The following are required duties and responsibilities for this position:

  • Develop a framework for creating, enhancing and maintaining documentation within the Consumer Bank, including, but not limited to; policies, program guides, procedures, job aids and training documents.

  • Ensure all new and existing documentation complies with applicable regulatory compliance requirements, state law requirements, and applicable internal UMB risk mitigation controls.

  • Oversee and maintain a comprehensive banking compliance First Line of Defense Program, incorporating independent transaction testing and ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory compliance requirements, state law requirements, and applicable internal UMB risk mitigation controls.

  • Enhance and maintain the Branch Quality Control Program, including: the creation of program standards, program methodology, testing workbooks, scoring matrices and methods of reporting Program testing results and effectiveness.

  • Aggregate testing results and perform analysis to identify the root cause of observations noted in the review and prioritize remediation efforts necessary to address observations.

  • Report results of all first line of defense programs to senior leadership, including: a summary of observations noted in first line of defense testing, trend analysis, identification of potentially non-compliant processes and behaviors, suggested efforts to remediate potential issues and required follow-up.

  • Oversight, development and coaching of direct reports executing all First Line of Defense activities.

  • Work with business partners in EDO, Bank Products and Services, Loan & Deposit Operations and Information Technology to ensure all documentation aligns and functions as intended across business lines.

  • Update procedures to care for required regulatory change and process enhancements; implement changes by working with line of business partners.

  • Create an inventory and centralized system for housing, maintaining, and completing ongoing enhancements to documentation.

  • Work with Training and Communications partners to incorporate documentation enhancements and regulatory compliance changes into training material articulating how process and procedure requirements and enhancements translate to the daily functions/transactions performed by Personal Banking associates.

  • Ability to create documentation customized to UMB's current infrastructure and risk profile and identify process and areas with potential process improvement.

  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to build a strategy to obtain sustainable improvement of processes, systems and operational performance in the Consumer division.

  • Collaborate with the Delivery leadership team and be a strong change champion, moving towards a division that is operationally sound.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Combination of 7-10 years' experience in banking compliance, policy and procedure writing, and project management
