About This Job

As a Benefits Baking Business Development Officer at Commerce Bank, you'll manage and service a portfolio of existing relationships. You will also solicit new business opportunities from internal referral sources and external targeted prospects.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and deliver client and prospect presentations in conjunction with other lines of business

  • Maintain a minimal level of understanding of the industry and competitive landscape related to Workplace banking

  • Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank and to establish referral contacts

  • Mentor and train team members as necessary

  • Work closely with Commercial, Small Business and Retail on delivering the Benefits Banking program in order to build new relationships, add value to existing clients and uncover referral opportunities

  • Serve as a resource to provide Benefits Banking product and sales support in addition to coaching and training

  • Partner with marketing to prepare and deliver Benefits Banking materials for branches and participating companies onsite/digital use

  • Partner with participating companies to travel to their place of business and host financial tabling experiences. Deliver the retail customer experience outside of the branch in a wide variety of office settings: onsite events range in size and complexity from individual tabling to, new hire onboarding, company wellness/benefit fairs, educational lunch & learns, symposiums and more

  • Perform sales calls with existing customers with the objective to expand relationships

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry

  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven track record within team selling and lead sharing

  • Ability to identify top customers and develop and maintain a future prospect list through Insight 360 CRM

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 50% under normal circumstances

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Advanced PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel & Adobe skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5+ years business development experience required

  • 2+ years retail banking and/or financial service experience preferred

  • Management experience preferred
