Humana Associate Actuary, Senior Products Actuarial, Medicare Part D Teams in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Associate Actuary, SPA RX will be responsible for supporting pricing and/or modeling work related to Medicare Part D. This includes both bid development and reforecasts throughout the year. In addition, this position will include various ad hoc assignments related to Medicare Part D forecasting, pricing, and analysis.

Responsibilities

There are multiple openings at the Associate Actuary level within the Senior Products Actuarial RX team. The specific responsibilities will vary by team; however, below are examples of possible work opportunities.

Medicare Part D Teams- responsibilities may include:

Opportunity #1:

  • Working with various departments and groups to develop and document the pricing assumptions used in preparation of PDP bids and supporting documentation.

  • Preparing the PDP bids and supporting documentation for the initial and all subsequent bid submissions.

  • Providing financial insights and actuarial analyses for requests by senior leadership.

  • Quantifying and reporting impacts of assumption changes between forecasts.

Opportunity #2:

  • Collaborating with regional business leaders on Part D Benefit Designs.

  • Creating and maintaining tools to support leadership in optimizing Part D Benefits and strategic decisions.

Opportunity #3:

  • Improving Part D data, reporting, and pricing processes including development of SAS programs.

  • Reconciling Part D projections with external consultants.

Opportunity #4:

  • Identifying opportunities to leverage Part D data to improve forecasts and drive business solutions.

  • Developing processes and tools to monitor and analyze experience and forecast accuracy.

Opportunity #5:

  • Maintaining SAS/Excel/VBA based PDP models and tools. Maintenance includes regular model runs, coding updates, documentation/peer review of updates.

  • Organizing, tracking, planning, implementing, and communicating assumptions and model logic updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation or FSA

  • Meets eligibility requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)

  • MAAA

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to translate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Proficiency in Excel and/or SQL

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of Pricing, Medicare and/or Part D experience

  • SAS experience

  • Understanding of R, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI

  • Strong analytics background

  • Highly motivated and willing to learn

Additional Information

  • Location: the preference is for the associate to work out of the Corporate Headquarters in Louisville, KY. The team is also open to evaluating candidates interested in working in one of the additional Humana locations: Green Bay, WI, Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL. There is also the potential for WAH for candidates with extensive Medicare or Part D experience.
