Summary: Assists the accounting department and performs a variety of duties such as maintaining the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers specifically related to accounts payable, preparing financial reports, assisting with audits, and reconciling accounts. Must operate in a manner consistent with GAAP accounting rules. Works with accounting staff in other offices to ensure that reconciliations are in balance. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the accounts payable function by recording invoices, processing expense reports, reconciling statements, and collaborating with service reps to resolve carrier discrepancies assuring accurate and timely payments.
Assist as needed with the accounts receivable function which includes recording cash receipts and commission statements, reconciling subsidiary ledgers for accounts receivable and unapplied cash, and the analysis and resolution of outstanding balances.
Perform other month end duties such as general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and subsidiary ledger analysis.
Assist with the annual audit by gathering information for audit requests.
Assist with projects outside of month end close. These may include but are not limited to vendor maintenance, process documentation, and account analysis.
Develop and maintain productive team-oriented relationships through individual contact and group meetings.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. .
Degree in accounting from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
