The opportunity

Ernst & Young LLP’s (EY) US Government and Public Sector (GPS) practice is a robust and emerging practice with tremendous potential for growth - and we are prepared to tap into that potential. Our US GPS practice combines an understanding of the public sector’s diverse needs, focused on delivering improved public services, with private sector leading practices. We respond to our client’s issues by bringing together highly skilled professionals across Advisory, Assurance, Tax and Transaction Advisory services. This integrated approach facilitates multidimensional support and flexibility to meet our clients changing needs.

Your key responsibilities

We’ll look to you to lead key state and local government relationships and manage high-performing engagement teams at an executive level within the practice and the firm. You can expect to work with high-level client personnel to analyze, evaluate, and enhance specific functional areas within your specialized area of technology, while helping our clients with technology-enabled transformation to achieve their business objectives. We’re also looking for you to act as a role model for EY’s core values and maintain and expand client relationships through the delivery of high-quality work and public sector knowledge.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Understand the key offerings from the central pillar leaders

  • Develop relationships inside the respective pillars

  • Identify agencies most pressing business issues and align EY capabilities

  • Drive sales pursuits with the account team and lobbyist

  • Serve on engagements sold where possible to build relationships and utilization

  • Lead presentations and proposals efforts for complex pursuits

  • Ability to drive projects to completion and confirm that work is a of a high quality

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Deep experience in helping in various technology areas i.e. IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture (EA), system implementation or technology modernization, infrastructure design, IT Service Management, and Technology Business Management

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, or computer science) and minimum 8 years of related work experience

  • The EY Government and Public Sector Practice’s staffing model is to assign resources to projects aligned to the office within the metropolitan area you have been hired; however, in certain circumstances, travel may be required within and/or beyond your geographic region based on client and project needs. For roles within the federal practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 30% is preferred. Within the state, local and education practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 80% is preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance, which will be determined by the engagement requirements

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience as a state or local government employee in a leadership role

  • Experience with at least one of the upcoming technologies e.g. Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Process Automation (RPA).

  • Experience in Cloud Architecture, DevOps, Agile, Business Case Development, Performance Improvement, Change Management, and Program Management

  • Secret Clearance or higher
