The Senior Financial Analyst will analyze complex financial data, synthesize results into logical conclusions, and summarize findings in reports tailored to the appropriate audience. The Senior Financial Analyst will also provide recommendations to management for establishing and achieving capital expenditure, operating expense, and certain costs of shared services allocations. This individual will assess alternatives and suggest and/or implement an appropriate course of action to improve overall financial performance.
**This position will ideally be based in Norwood, MA, but highly qualified remote candidates will also be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for capital expenditure tracking, forecasting, reconciliation, and reporting across multiple software development projects as well as other fixed assets. This role will require a high level of interface with senior IT management, product management, and the general accounting group.
Responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis for departmental budgets and operating expenses in support of HLRP executives and department heads, with a primary focus on the IT organizations but will also support other functional executives as assigned. This would include making critical recommendations to management and developing solutions to help drive cost efficiencies.
The Senior Financial Analyst will play a leading role in the three year strategic planning process (VSP), the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and the preparation and support of ROI analysis for business plans.
Prepares WK Health Division Monthly and Quarterly Highlights reporting, covering cost analysis and commentary on monthly results. Also provides support for a wide variety of WK Health Division requirements, including Repmods and Budget/VSP deck analytical support.
Overall responsibility for the planning, forecasting, accounting and reporting of HLRP product development capex budgets.
Prepares quarterly and as-needed capex management presentation materials for internal and WK Health Division reviews.
Performs fixed asset reconciliations from Capgemini to insure data integrity and tie outs to internal project reporting. Notifies accounting when a project is ready to release for capitalization.
Manages the IT operating expense and FTE budgets. As part of the monthly close process, reviews opex line item performance against forecast and creates accruals and reclassifications when required. Partners with department heads to present month end results, researches variances, and proposes corrective course of action.
Develops financial analysis and ROI for product line business cases. Assesses risks, opportunities, and alternatives. Makes recommendations as to course of action.
Prepares society Journal royalty accrual calculations. Works closely with business managers to update changes in royalty terms and assesses cost impact of royalty expense due to changes in revenue forecasts.
Deep cost/FTE/expense analysis and longer term projects in support of CFO, Director FP&A, and FP&A team.
Analytical modelling to provide insight into product line P&L operating performance; create and communicate insights to a variety of stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned. Could include acquisitions/divestment support, FTE and payroll analysis, special projects as requested from WK Health Division.
Education: BS/BA in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent years of experience, MBA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial analysis role.
Excellent communication skills with previous experience presenting results to all levels of the organization including senior management.
Previous experience writing concise reports that are easy to understand.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are a must.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:
8+ years of experience in a financial analysis role preferred.
Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase, Great Plains, and/or other business intelligence tools preferred but not essential.
Exemplary oral and written communication skills are essential.
Superior analytical reasoning.
Ability to work independently and within a dynamic team.
An ability to absorb large amounts of information in a high energy, deadline-driven, and fast-paced environment.
Detail oriented; able to multi-task; strong organizational skills.
Be comfortable working long distance with a cross section of the organization in several offices in the US and abroad.
Travel Requirements: Occasional domestic trips to either our New York or Philadelphia locations to participate in budget reviews or training. Estimated no more than 10% of time.
