Join our Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) team and you will directly support and promote our brand and reputation. Through public relations and corporate communications, you’ll provide a wide range of marketing and communications services to internal and external audiences. These include current and future clients, our current and future employees, alumni, regulators, the media and the communities within which we operate.

The opportunity

In this strategic, hands-on role you will lead a high-performing team of media relations and social media professionals in the Americas to develop and execute programs that positively promote and position EY to its external audiences. You’ll work closely with firm leadership across our various business lines to deliver strategic messaging to key audiences with a mix of media relations and digital/social content strategies. You’ll bring a combination of proactive PR and social media strategy and execution along with deadline-driven, reactive media relations. You’ll exhibit sound judgment and strategic counsel, a proactive nature, impeccable writing and content development, and constant collaboration with our firm leadership as well as our counterparts across Risk, Legal, and Public Policy teams.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Americas PR Leader to manage all proactive promotional media relations and social media programs, as well as supporting strategy development and execution related to crises/issues. Work with the Americas PR Leader to set priorities and develop strategic plans for the overall PR and social media function

  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of high performing professionals to be on the leading edge of PR and social media strategy, and oversee team’s ongoing program execution

  • Collaborate with EY senior leadership and marketing and communications colleagues to deeply understand business objectives and contribute to the strategic development of integrated campaigns which promote the firm’s brand and capabilities

  • Support the management and maximization of all PR and social media agency relationships including budgets, contracts and general oversight

  • Provide senior-level media relations counsel and social media strategy on a full range of opportunities and firm priorities

  • Support senior executives with top-tier media opportunities including messaging development, briefings and media training

  • Develop and foster positive relationships with top-tier journalists and influencers

  • Direct press release and press statement strategy; oversee all press collateral development and collaborate with our social media team to ensure pull-through on our owned (ey.com) and social channels

  • Work closely with sector and region communications teams to maximize EY messages across multiple business industries as well as geographies and platforms

Skills and attributes for success

  • Exceptional writing capabilities and journalistic instincts in distilling corporate messages into compelling narratives

  • Strong understanding of the rapidly evolving media landscape and the opportunities to leverage traditional and digital channels

  • A modern and sophisticated approach to maximizing social media channels

  • Quick thinking and sound judgment on media inquiries and press statements.

  • Ability to command the media landscape at every level with proven media relationships

  • Understanding of the complexities of dealing with the media

  • A collaborative mindset

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 12-15 years of public relations / communications experience including management experience

  • A University/Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in a professional or financial services environment would be an asset

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, including social media writing skills

  • Demonstrated success building internal and external relationships at a senior level

  • Confident, highly articulate and diplomatic, with the strong influencing skills

  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines, manage multiple projects and delegate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Excellent project management, team building and interpersonal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel as needed

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Extensive knowledge of business-to-business communications and marketing

  • A Masters or advanced degree
