DIRECTOR, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

Scope

Manages the Corporate Communications team of 1-2 direct reports. Develops and trains with on-the-job experience and individualized instruction. Supervises outside vendors and suppliers on projects as needed. Provides project budget oversight. Leads corporate communications contract and budget support as necessary.

Reporting and Working Relationships

Reports to Senior Director, Brand & Reputation. Works closely with marketing, communications, HR and community affairs partners, including business unit personnel and executive leadership. Direct report positions include Corporate Communications Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

50%: INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS: Works with the Senior Director, Brand & Reputation and senior management to align corporate communications initiatives with business goals. Collaborates with internal partners to ensure consistency of messages across the company. Leads planning and implementation of Corporate Communication initiatives, including successfully managing all corporate communications vehicles (intranet, digital signage, newsletters, etc). Facilitates collaboration among business partners via Cross Business Council and internal initiatives (annual employee survey, town hall events, etc.).

30%: EXTERNAL MESSAGING: Responsible for communications needs that promote the Maritz brand. Generates coverage for Maritz business and product offerings while also projecting strong employment brand. Crafts award entry submissions. Conducts outreach to industry leaders/publications to promote Maritz brand. Writes, reviews and edits company press releases. Oversees external messaging via websites and social media.

20%:SENIOR LEADERSHIP SUPPORT: Fosters strong executive communications through a strategy that includes messaging, correspondence, speeches, and other communications. Supports crisis and change communications initiatives both with preemptive and reactive planning and implementation.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

  2. 10+ years experience in Corporate Communications or related field.

  3. Strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills.

  4. Demonstrated experience in writing speeches and other communications materials for executives.

  5. Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously within required deadlines.

  6. Strong understanding of technologies, such as intranet, etc.

  7. Demonstrated ability to influence and advise stakeholders at multiple organizational levels, including c-level executives
