Payroll Administrator


The primary responsibilities of this role, Payroll Administrator, are to:

  • Ensure adherence with Bayer policies, as well as all United States Federal, State and Local regulatory compliance requirements as it relates to garnishment withholdings, payroll and employee income recordings;

  • Provide garnishment administration including input and scan/upload support for all withholding obligations in partnership with our third party ensuring timely deduction maintenance, timely responses to all inquiries (internal and external) and timely remittance to all agencies;

  • Manage the email box(es) for payroll and time activities and provide first tier support on responses to inquiries;

  • Provide first tier support on all tickets/inquiries from employees, managers, Legal, business partners and external inquiries/audits ensuring questions are addressed in adherence to SLA response times and challenging situations are handled with diplomacy and tack;

  • Administers proactively data quality audits to reduce the risk of garnishment deduction and payroll issues/errors;

  • Stay current on internal and external policies and all legislative/ regulatory guidance impacting employee garnishments, pay and income recording activities;

  • Analyze proactively pay results to ensure compliance;

  • Support third party disbursements including the funding process with Treasury and external banking processes for all garnishment withholdings and in support of any payroll processing activities;

  • Partner with Separations Analyst, HR Business Partners and Legal in preparing for pay considerations on involuntary separation activities, including garnishment disclosures for M & A & D activities;

  • Partner with Information Technology and third party provider for payroll system upgrade and year-end testing cycles;

  • Support Human resources (HR) demand testing when needed;

  • Establish and maintain strong partnership and communication with HR Business Partners, Legal and other HR direct process teams while supporting HR initiatives;

  • Assist Team Lead in development, preparation and delivery of value added reports and metrics on garnishment and payroll processing activities to support businesses in strategic initiatives;

  • Review for accuracy and submit all third party invoicing for payment and support the annual PO creation processes for the vendors;

  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned;

  • Be responsible for creation and maintenance of SNOW documents, Front Office communications and all process documents related to garnishment activities;

  • Participate actively in projects as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years overall HR, Finance and/or Accounting experience;

  • Demonstrated understanding of employment law and regulatory guidelines related to garnishment and pay practices activities;

  • Ability to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and tack;

  • Demonstrated understanding of gross to net calculations for employee pay and garnishment applications;

  • Ability to partner on projects and support change management efforts;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information and adhere to data privacy and internal compliance requirements;

  • Strong organizations skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills;

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other functions;

  • Flexibility to work extended hours as necessary;

  • Strong aptitude and proficiency in SAP-HR and MS Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint;
